Johanne Martel-Pelletier

Johanne Martel-Pelletier (born April 20, 1952 in Saint-Jean , Quebec, Canada) is a Canadian medical doctor specializing in arthritis research (pathophysiology and molecular mechanisms of arthritis and therapy).

Martel-Pelletier studied molecular biology (Bachelor in 1973) and medicine (Master’s degree in 1975) at the University of Montreal , where she received her doctorate in 1979. From 1979 to 1981 she was in rheumatism research at the University of Miami .

She is a professor at the University of Montreal , where she and her husband Jean-Pierre Pelletier lead the Osteoarthritis Research Group.

In 2010 she received the König Faisal Prize for Medicine with Jean-Pierre Pelletier and Reinhold Ganz .
