Johannes Nepomuk statue in Schwedenstrasse

The statue of Johannes Nepomuk on Schwedenstraße in the Upper Franconian town of Kronach is a representation of Saint Johannes Nepomuk .

The sandstone statue , created by an unknown artist, was donated in 1739 on the occasion of the construction of the 14-station Stations of the Cross on Kreuzberg, east of Kronach. It was originally located on the monastery bridge over the Haßlach and was only subsequently moved to its current location in a niche at the foot of the building at Am Pförtchen 5 with a view of the monastery bridge immediately to the west.

The very detailed Nepomuk statue is a listed building . From 1862 it was in the possession of the Apostelmeßbenefiziums, a previous owner of the property at Am Pförtchen 5; in 2007 the current owner of the building bought the statue and had it restored during a renovation of the entire property.
