Johannes-Wilhelm Rörig, Independent Commissioner for Questions of Child Sexual Abuse

Johannes-Wilhelm Rörig (* 1959 in Kassel ) is a German business economist , fully qualified lawyer and ministerial director . Since December 2011 he has been the Independent Commissioner for Issues relating to Child Sexual Abuse .

Family, education and work

After graduating from high school in 1978, Rörig studied at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences , where he received his degree in business administration in 1982. In 1988 he passed the first state examination in law in Berlin . In 1990 he became head of the office of the head of the Berlin city council , Christine Bergmann. In 1991 he passed the second state examination in law and from 1991 to 1993 head of the office of the mayor of Berlin and senator for labor and women, Christine Bergmann, in the Berlin Senate Chancellery . From 1993 to 1998 Rörig was a judge at the labor court in Berlin.

In autumn 1998 he took over the management of the office of Federal Minister Christine Bergmann and the management group in the Federal Ministry of Family Affairs (BMFSFJ). From 2000 to 2009 he was head of the central department there and between 2009 and 2011 sub-department head in the children and youth department. Since 2011, Rörig has been the Federal Government's Independent Commissioner for Issues relating to Child Sexual Abuse (UBSKM).

Rörig has two grown children.   

Office of the Independent Commissioner

Johannes-Wilhelm Rörig has been the successor to the first child abuse officer, Christine Bergmann, as the independent commissioner for issues relating to child sexual abuse (UBSKM) since 2011. By resolution of the Federal Cabinet of March 26, 2014, Rörig was appointed Independent Commissioner for Issues of Child Sexual Abuse (UBSKM) on April 1, 2014 for a period of five years. With a cabinet decision of March 27, 2019, a new appointment was made for another five years.
