Johannes Bastian

Johannes Bastian (born March 3, 1948 in Neuss ) is a German educator and school development researcher .

biography

After graduating from high school in his hometown, Bastian began studying education and psychology at the University of Hamburg in 1969. In 1972 he passed the first state examination for teaching at elementary and secondary schools.

Postgraduate studies in educational science, psychology and sociology, which was completed with a doctorate on the subject of "learning process-oriented teaching". From 1975 to 1977 he completed his legal clerkship. Until 1982 Bastian was a teacher at a secondary school in Hamburg.

In 1982 he became a university assistant at the Department of Education at the University of Hamburg. From 1988 he worked as an academic councilor in the same department and became head of the Center for School Practice.

From 1997 he was a professor in the Department of Education at the University of Hamburg. His main focus was school development research and teacher training. He has been retired since 2011.

He heads the editorial department of the magazine Pädagogik (Beltz Verlag) and is also co-editor. He is also the editor-in-chief of the magazine Hamburg macht Schule (pedagogical contributions publisher, Hamburg).
