Reiner Lehberger
Reiner Lehberger (born June 22, 1948 in Bochum ) is a German university teacher, educational scientist and author. He became known to a larger audience through his books on Loki Schmidt and Helmut Schmidt .
Life
Lehberger studied English, sociology, pedagogy and sports science at the Universities of Bochum and Hamburg from 1968 to 1973 . After research stays in the USA and Great Britain, he received a doctorate in English in 1976. After completing his habilitation in the Department of Education at the University of Hamburg, he was appointed professor in 1985. Since 1999 he has been working with the Zeit Foundation on educational projects. In 2015 Lehberger initiated the project "Setting the course for immigrants" together with the ZEIT Foundation and the Federal Ministry for Family, Seniors, Women and Youth . The aim is to support immigrant children and young people to integrate into school and society.
In 2003 the “Lern-Werk” of the ZEIT Foundation, which he directed, received the European Alcuin Award from the European Parents' Association. His scientific work focuses on topics from the fields of educational history, school pedagogy and teacher training. In 1991 he and others founded the Hamburg School Museum , which he ran from 1991 to 2015 in cooperation with the Hamburg School History Office at the University of Hamburg . In collaboration with the Hamburg School Museum, Lehberger designed and carried out numerous exhibitions. Among them are "Philipp Aronstein - a German-Jewish scientist"; "Fruits of Reform Education" and "Jewish Schools in Hamburg" have been shown at numerous locations in Germany.
In addition to his scientific and educational work, Lehberger was active in educational policy. From 2006 to 2007 he was a member of the Hamburg study commission “Consequences of the new PISA study for Hamburg school development”. From 2004 to 2014 he was co-initiator and moderator of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung's educational forum . Since 1998 he has been the chairman of the regional school council of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.
From 1996 to 2010 he worked with Loki Schmidt , the wife of the politician and Federal Chancellor Helmut Schmidt , on various projects (exhibitions, book projects, educational projects). In 2014 Lehberger published an extensive biography about Loki Schmidt. In 2018, on the occasion of the Schmidts' centenary, he presented the first couple biography of Loki and Helmut Schmidt.
