Johannes Flintoe (* 1786 in Copenhagen ; † January 27, 1870 ibid) was a Danish-Norwegian painter .

Live and act

Flintoe is known for his landscape painting and history paintings of Scandinavian history.

He learned painting from his stepfather Peder Faxe and attended the Royal Danish Academy of Art from 1802 to 1805. In 1811 he traveled to Norway and lived in Christiania . There he taught painting at the Tegneskolen from 1819 to 1851. His students included the artists Johan Fredrik Eckersberg and Hans Gude . He later returned to Denmark, where he died on January 27, 1870 in Copenhagen.
