Johannes Grande
Johannes Grande Roman (born March 6, 1546 in Carmona , Spain, † June 3, 1600 in Jerez de la Frontera ) was a Spanish religious and saint.
Johannes began to care for the sick in the city of Jerez at the age of 19 . In 1567 he became head of a hospital, whose medical care he renewed and reformed. In 1574 he joined the Nursing Order of the Brothers of Mercy of John of God . John died in 1600 of the plague that he caught while caring for the sick.
He was in 1852 by Pius IX. Beatified and canonized by Pope John Paul II in 1996.
