Johannes Howald

Johannes Howald (also Johann Howald ) (born December 28, 1854 in Thörigen ; † November 24, 1953 in Bern , reformed , resident in Thörigen) was a Swiss teacher and writer .

Life

Howald was born on December 28, 1854 in Thörigen, the son of a farmer and horse dealer. Between 1871 and 1874 he completed a primary school teacher training course at the Protestant seminary Muristalden ( Muristalden campus ) in Bern. As a result, Johannes Howald taught in Bolligen before he worked as a seminar teacher for German and history at the Muristalden seminar from 1875 to 1938. In addition, he worked for many years as editor of the Swiss Evangelical School Gazette .

Johannes Howald married in 1884. He died on November 24, 1953, five weeks before he was 99 years old in Bern.

Howald emerged as a versatile writer. His entire German and literary works include a monograph , Bern German versions of parts of the New Testament , published in 1936, 1940 and 1944, collections of poetry and verses .
