Johannes Knolleisen

John Knollseisen (* 1450 in Olsztyn , † 1513 ) was the founder of a scholarship for poor students from Allenstein / East Prussia , which at the University in Leipzig studied.

Johannes Knolleisen was born in Allenstein, nothing is known about his parents or his youth. He was a master of theology in Leipzig and established his scholarship at the local university in 1512. Before that, Johannes Knolleisen was canon in Merseburg (1489). Knolleisen and Lucas David have made a contribution to the city of Allenstein through their scholarships by helping the young people of Allenstein to help them survive.
