Handwritten letter to Kerner

Johannes Lämmerer (born June 22, 1763 at the Lämmershof near Gschwend ; † March 7, 1831 in Unterdeufstetten ) was a German folk poet.

Lämmerer learned to write from Pastor Heinrich Prescher . Since 1790 the weaver lived in Unterdeufstetten, where he was also a schoolmaster from 1807. Prescher, but above all Justinus Kerner , who met him as a senior doctor in Gaildorf in 1815, encouraged his poetic talent. Kerner published the poems of the linen weaver Johannes Lämmerer from Lämmershof near Gschwend in 1819 at Johann Georg Ritter in Schwäbisch Gmünd . In the " Cotta'schen Morgenblatt " he had dedicated a poem To Johannes Lämmerer to him a year earlier .
