Heinrich Prescher

Johann Philipp Heinrich Prescher (born November 19, 1749 in Gaildorf ; † May 26, 1827 in Gschwend ) was a German historian . He became known for his work on the history of the Imperial County of Limpurg .

Life

After visiting the Lyceum in Nördlingen studied Prescher in Hall and later in Leipzig theology . As a vicar in Eutendorf near Gaildorf , he collected material on limpurgic history. From 1777 until his death he was pastor of Gschwend.

His main work is the two-volume history and description of the imperial county of Limpurg , which was published in 1789/90 .

Prescher was in contact with Johannes Lämmerer , Justinus Kerner , Ludwig Uhland and Johann Gottfried Pahl , among others .

The organ builder Paul Prescher was probably his great-grandfather.

Honor

The Heinrich Prescher School in Gschwend bears his name.
