Johannes Lohe

Johannes Lohe (* March 1681 in Solingen ; † February 1737 in Elberfeld ) was Mayor of Elberfeld.

Lohe was born as the son of the pharmacist Winand Lohe, who moved from Elberfeld to Solingen, and his wife Katharina Teschemacher. He was baptized in Solingen on March 31, 1681. On her mother's side, Lohe had numerous uncles and cousins ​​who had previously been mayors. He moved again from Solingen to Elberfeld, where he married Maria Margareta von Carnap (1684–1716) on November 30, 1707 and with whom he had two children. After her early death he married Gertrud Üllenberg (1694–1725) in Essen in 1717, with whom he had three other children. His second wife also died early and therefore he married Maria Helena von Gohr (1685–1735) from Bergisch Gladbach in 1727, but her marriage remained childless.

After moving to Elberfeld, Lohe worked as a merchant and became a councilor in Elberfeld in 1731, 1732 and 1734. In 1734 he was also proposed as mayor, but could not prevail. It was not until the second attempt a year later that he was elected mayor for 1735. In the following year he was the city judge of Elberfeld. He died the following year and was buried on February 26, 1737.
