Johannes Maria Suykerbuyk

Johannes Maria Suykerbuyk (born November 29, 1959 in Munstergeleen , Dutch province Limburg ) is a Dutch composer . He also uses the pseudonym Johannes MA Wollf. The surname is also spelled Suijkerbuijk .

From 1978 to 1984 he studied musicology at the Rijksuniversiteit in Utrecht with Kees Vellekoop (earliest music history up to 1400), Willem Elders (music history 1400–1650), Gyorgy Veber (music history 1650–1750), Marius Flothuis (music history 1750–1900), Jos Art (music history from 1900 and semantics), Randy Tollefsen (paleography), Kees Vente (organography), Jan Bogaarts (choir direction) and the theoretical subjects with Dik van Yperen , Jan Willem Verpoorten , Rudy Rasch , Gert Oost and Jan van Benthem . He received his doctorate in 1984 with a dissertation on the relationship between the violin concerto by Alban Berg and the Berceuse Elégiaque by Ferruccio Busoni . Self-taught, he studied drums, acoustic guitar and violin.

During his studies he developed his own composition technique. In 1982 his work Perigaeum was premiered by the Utrecht Blazersensemble under the direction of Leo Samama .
