Johannes Michael Geuenich

Johannes Michael Geuenich (born April 23, 1935 in Morschenich , Düren district ; † July 26, 2015 ) was a German trade unionist and politician of the SPD .

education and profession

After attending primary school , Johannes Michael Geuenich completed an apprenticeship as a lathe operator from 1950 to 1953. From 1957 he was a member of IG Metall . In 1964 he became a union secretary at IG Metall in Cologne. From 1982 to 1985 he worked as chairman of the DGB state district of North Rhine-Westphalia and from 1985 to 1998 as a member of the executive board of the DGB federal board.

Geuenich was buried on August 14, 2015 after the exequies in the parish church of St. Peter in Düren-Birkesdorf.

politics

Johannes Michael Geuenich had been a member of the SPD since 1959. From 1961 to 1964 he was a member of the Birkesdorf municipal council and was also chairman of the parliamentary group there. He worked in the office of Birkesdorf and in the district council in Düren. Geuenich was a member of the WDR Broadcasting Council .

From July 26, 1970 to May 27, 1975, Johannes Michael Geuenich was a directly elected member of the 7th State Parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia for constituency 016 Cologne-Stadt III.

Honors

Geuenich was awarded the Order of Merit of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia on May 10, 1991 .
