Johannes Remmers

Johannes Friedrich Wilhelm Remmers (born February 5, 1842 in Aurich ; † December 27, 1918 ) was a German Lutheran theologian, consistorial councilor and general superintendent of the general diocese of Bremen-Verden .

Life

Remmers, son of an actuary, studied theology in Erlangen and Göttingen . He was a member of the Wingolfs connections there . In 1872 he became pastor in Roggenstede , in 1877 pastor in Engerhafe , 1895 superintendent in Willershausen , 1900 first pastor at the Trinity Church and superintendent in Hamburg-Harburg . From 1904 to 1913 Remmers was General Superintendent of the General Diocese of Bremen-Verden with the official seat in Hanover.

From 1900 until the dissolution of the Stade Consistory in 1902, he was a clerical member there by order. In 1904 he became a member of the consistory in Hanover, from which he resigned in 1913 when he retired. From 1905 to 1918 he was also a member of the state consistory.
