Johannes Schmoelling
Johannes Schmoelling (born November 9, 1950 in Lohne ) is a musician and was a member of the group Tangerine Dream .
Life
Schmoelling learned to play the piano at the age of eight . Later he dealt with church organs and at the age of 14 was already an organist in a Catholic church. He completed a degree in sound engineering at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin . After a job as a sound engineer in a theater, he switched to the group Tangerine Dream . During this time, various studio and live albums and well-known soundtracks such as The Keep were created . In 1985 he left Tangerine Dream and started a solo career.
In 2000 he founded his own record label Viktoriapark Records. In 2005 a new collaboration with Edgar Froese appeared under the name Tangerine Dream , which only contained revised, previously unpublished recordings from 1983.
In 2007 Schmoelling published a compilation covering his first 20 years as a solo musician: "Images and Memory".
After further solo albums in 2008, 2009 and 2011, he has been playing with Jerome Froese (Ex-Tangerine Dream) and Robert Waters (musician and producer from Berlin, real name Robert Wässer) in the formation LOOM, which has several EPs and Albums released.
