John VI (Pope)
John VI († January 11, 705 in Rome ) was Greek and from 701 to 705 Pope .
He took office on October 30, 701. During his pontificate the Lombards plundered the Campagna Romana under the dux Gisulf I of Benevento . Papal emissaries met him near the city of Horrea (possibly Puteoli ), bought the prisoners free and brought Gisulf to end the campaign with "gifts". He stopped Emperor Justinian II from using force.
