Johannes Vollrath
Johannes Raphael Vollrath (* 1940 in Düsseldorf ; † 2013 ) was a German painter.
Career
At a young age, his musical talent was encouraged by his mother (pianist) and grandfather (painter and graphic artist). In 1958 Vollrath began studying commercial graphics at the Werkkunstschule in Düsseldorf . From 1962 to 1968 he worked as a set designer and stage painter for the Residenztheater and the Gärtnerplatztheater in Munich and the "Theater des Westens" in Berlin. Vollrath had been a freelance artist since 1969. His work includes watercolors, acrylic and oil paintings, graphics, photographs and mixed media, etchings and wooden steles. Johannes Vollrath became known through exhibitions in Munich, Landshut, Erding, Meersburg, Stuttgart and Husum.
In 1985 a first book with watercolors by Johannes Vollrath and texts by his partner Ingrid Gnettner was published by Eulenverlag under the title Fantasy Landscapes . Further books followed under the title Natural Landscapes , Blossom Landscapes and Days of the South .
Vollrath has won several tenders to equip public buildings. In 1991 he received the order from the Deutsche Bundesbahn to artistically complement the equipment of the ICE trains with his watercolor and acrylic paintings. In 1996 Johannes Vollrath received the Erding District Culture Prize.
