Johannes Wilho Rinne (born August 16, 1923 in Turku , Finland ; † July 1, 2010 there ) was a primate of the Orthodox Church of Finland .

Johannes Wilho Rinne studied theology and received his doctorate in theology at the Åbo Akademi in 1966 . In 1971 he finished studying canon law at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki .

In 1967 he joined the congregation in the Monastery of St. John on the island of Patmos and was later ordained a priest by the Orthodox Church. In 1969 he was appointed Bishop of Lapland and Auxiliary Bishop to the Archbishop of Karelia and Finland. In 1972 he became Metropolitan of Helsinki. In 1987 he became Archbishop of Karelia and Finland and the Primate of the Finnish Orthodox Church. After his voluntary resignation in 2001, he was the (titular) Metropolitan of Nicaea (now Iznik, Turkey).

Metropolitan Johannes was engaged as a multilingual theologian, translator, author and ecumenist. He was considered an expert in canon law.
