Life

Origin and family

Johannes von Bevern came from the Westphalian noble family von Bevern , who came from the ministerial nobility and had its headquarters in Ostbevern and Westbevern in the Münsterland . He was the son of Friedrich von Bevern and his wife Getrud Voet zu Kolvenburg and grew up with his siblings Agnes († 1475, ∞ Hermann Korff called Schmising), Nikolaus and Wennemar , who were also canons of Munster. The family of Bevern lived until 1588, the year of extinction in the male line , to Bevern .

Act

In December 1425 John asked for the award of a Dompräbende and held on 7 January 1427 for the vacant prebend of the late Canon Albert of Saxony on. At first Johannes and his brother Wennemar refused to approve the chapter statute. This determined that the assignment of offices is only permissible to emancipated canons. Later he submitted to these regulations and in 1448, as canon, was also rector of the altar in the Lambertikirche in Münster . John remained in these offices until his death.
