John Attfield

John Attfield (born August 28, 1835 in Whetstone, † March 18, 1911 in Ashlands, Watford ) was an English chemist.

From 1850 he was a pharmacist and in 1854 he became a practical chemistry demonstrator at St. Bartholomew Hospital in London. 1862 received his doctorate in Tübingen as Dr. phil. and in the same year became professor of practical chemistry and director of the pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain in London.

He was a Corresponding Member of the Paris Academy of Sciences and a member of the Chemical Society. He was also a co-founder of the Pharmaceutical Conference and from 1863 to 1880 its honorary secretary.
