John Baker (politician, 1813)
John Baker (born December 28, 1813 in Ilminster , England , † May 19, 1872 in Magill , South Australia ) was an Anglo-Australian politician and the second Prime Minister of South Australia, whose term of office was only twelve days, from August 21 to September 1, 1857.

John Baker was born on December 28, 1813 in Ilminster, England, to Richard Chaffey Baker and his wife Mary, b. Anstice, born. In 1838 he emigrated to Van Diemens Land .
On June 7, 1838, Baker married Isabella Allan (1819-1908). He had ten children with her. Her eldest son, Richard Chaffey Baker (1841–1911), was the first President of the Australian Senate .
