John Clark (painter)

John Clark (* 1830 in Riga , Livonia Gouvernement , Russian Empire ; † 1905 ibid) was a Russian-Latvian painter from the Düsseldorf School .

Life

Clark, the son of English parents, grew up in Riga and studied painting at the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1853 . There he attended the building class of Rudolf Wiegmann and the art history lessons of Karl Josef Ignatz Mosler . He received lessons in anatomy and proportions from Heinrich Mücke . He worked as a drawing teacher in his hometown, in 1898 he was "adjunct professor" at the Riga Polytechnic . Little is known about his further life. He exhibited violins and cellos in Saint Petersburg .
