John Darcy, 5th Baron Darcy de Knayth (according to other counting 4th Baron ) (* 1377 - December 9, 1411 ) was an English nobleman.

John Darcy came from the English Darcy family . He was the eldest son of Philip Darcy and his wife Elizabeth Gray . After the death of his father on June 12, 1399 his inheritance was handed over to him. A significant part of the possessions was given to his mother Elizabeth as a lifelong Wittum , she survived him and did not die until 1412. Apparently the transfer of Darcy's inheritance was simplified so that he could support King Henry IV's accession to the throne . From August 1399 he was invited to all of the king's parliaments . In May 1402, he was authorized to put down a riot. In 1407 he belonged to the army of the heir to the throne Henry , with whom he fought the rebellion of Owain Glyndŵr in Wales. Yet Darcy never achieved the military or political importance that his father or grandfather had.

Darcy had married Margaret Gray († 1454), the only daughter of Henry Gray, 5th Baron Gray de Wilton and his wife Elizabeth Talbot . With her he had at least two sons:

When Darcy died, his estates were arguably undervalued, with an annual income of just over £ 100. His widow Margaret was granted £ 40 annually from the family estates in June 1412 to support her and her other children. Margaret married Sir Thomas Swynford of Lincolnshire for the second time before July 12, 1421 . Darcy's heir became his eldest son, Philip.
