John Dillingham Dodson

John Dillingham Dodson (* 1879 in Allen County (Kentucky) , † 1955 in Warren County (Kentucky) ) was an American psychologist.

From 1908 until his death he worked in psychological research and teaching. His most important companion was Robert Yerkes . Together they discovered the Yerkes-Dodson law .

John D. Dodson received his Masters degree from Harvard University . He then completed his PhD as the first graduate student in the Department of Psychology at the University of Minnesota . Little is known about his life after the seminal publication with Robert Yerkes. While he was still alive, research into his whereabouts began in 1921. This was continued in 2001. A 2012 publication indicates that he spent most of his academic life teaching at the Bowling Green College of Commerce. This later became part of Western Kentucky University .
