John Dykes Bower

Sir John Dykes Bower CVO (born August 13, 1905 in Gloucester , † 1981 ) was an English organist .

Life

Bower studied the organ since 1922 at Corpus Christi College (Cambridge) . From 1926 he was organist at the cathedral in Truro , in 1926 he moved to New College (Oxford) . In 1933 he took over the organist service at Durham Cathedral and finally in 1936 at St Paul's Cathedral . In 1968 Bower retired.
