from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

John P. Harnad , born as János Hernád (* 1946 in Budapest ) is a Hungarian-Canadian theoretical physicist.

Harnad studied at McGill University and received his doctorate in 1972 from Oxford University under John C. Taylor (Topics in the theory of hadronic scattering). He is at the Center de Recherches Mathématiques (CRM) in Montreal, where he heads the Mathematical Physics group, and is a professor at Concordia University .

He was a member of the Institute for Advanced Study and is a member of the Perimeter Institute .

He researches integrable systems (classical and quantum mechanical) with connections to gauge field theories and random matrices.

In 2006 he received the CAP-CRM Prize .
