John D. Keith

John Dow Keith (born February 23, 1908 in Canada , † February 1, 1989 ) was a pediatric cardiologist .

Live and act

Keith graduated from the University of Toronto with a medical degree in 1932 .

Keith was the first chief physician in the cardiology department at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto , Canada.

His book Heart disease in infancy and childhood was published in 12 editions between 1958 and 1978.

In 1973 Keith gave the American Heart Association's T. Duckett Jones Memorial Lecture . In 1975 Keith received the Gairdner Foundation International Award "In recognition of his many and important contributions to our understanding of the natural history of congenital heart disease, which have formed the basis for the modern treatment of congenital heart malformations." ("In recognition of his many and important contributions to our understanding of the natural course of congenital heart diseases, which have formed the basis for the modern treatment of congenital heart defects.")
