John L. Walters

John L. Walters (born April 16, 1953 in Chesterfield , Derbyshire , England ) is a British magazine editor, critic, record producer and composer.

Walters holds degrees in mathematics and physics from King's College London . He is one of the founders of the jazz rock and synthpop band Landscape , which existed from 1974 to 1981 and had the hits Einstein A Go-Go and Norman Bates in 1981 . In the 1980s he produced rock and pop music and worked as a producer with, among others, Kate Bush , Twelfth Night , Swans Way, Mike Gibbs . From 1987 to 1997 he was a member of the Electronic Jazz Orchestra Cycle , with Neil Ardley , Warren Greveson , Ian Carr .

In 1992 he founded the audio journal Unknown Public with Laurence Aston . He later founded the SoundCircus label with pianist Joanna MacGregor and producer James Mallinson. He has written as a reviewer for The Guardian , Architectural Review and other magazines, and from 1999 published the quarterly graphic design magazine Eye .
