Career

Lockyer made his international debut on December 3, 1989 as part of the Ski Jumping World Cup in Thunder Bay . In his first season, 1989/90 , he clearly missed the points in all jumping. The best result was rank 45 in Predazzo . Also at the ski flying world championship in 1990 in Vikersund he was 47th without success.

Also in the following season 1990/91 he started again without any points. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1991 in Val di Fiemme , he reached 59th place on the normal hill and 54th place on the large hill.

Lockyer also had a permanent place in the World Cup squad in the following two years, but he also remained without success. At the Four Hills Tournament 1992/93 , however, he achieved the best overall ranking of his career with 47th place overall. In the Nordic World Ski Championships 1993 in Sweden's Falun he reached 54th on the large hill. Lockyer finished 48th on the normal hill.

At the ski flying world championship in Planica in 1994 Lockyer landed on rank 35. At the team world cup in Thunder Bay in March 1994 he reached ninth place with the team.

While jumping a little later in Calgary , Lockyer broke his neck in a fall. The spinal cord was not injured, so after a while he tried to make a comeback.

With the start of the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1995 in Thunder Bay Lockyer finally ended his active ski jumping career. He reached 54th place on the normal hill before landing on the 49th place on the large hill.

In September 2009, Lockyer was inducted into the Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame . He is the father of four children.
