John MR Stone

John MR Stone is a Canadian climatologist .

Stone studied at the University of Reading , where he received a bachelor's degree in chemistry in 1966 and a Ph. D. in molecular spectroscopy in 1969 . After a year of research in Prague , he returned to Canada and was first at the University in Sherbrooke operates. In 1972 he entered the Canadian public service and worked in various government departments and research institutions. Before retiring in 2005, he was responsible for research programs in the areas of climate and atmospheric research for 15 years . He is a member of the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society and holds a research professorship at Carleton University .

Stone was appointed to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change in 1997 , where he initially worked as Vice-Chair of Working Group I and was involved in the preparation of the Third Assessment Report . After changing to the position of Vice-Chair of Working Group II Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability , he has been involved in the preparation of the Fourth Assessment Report since 2007 .
