John Menick

John Menick (* 1976 in White Plains ) is an American video artist , installation artist and author .

life and work

John Menick studied at the Cooper Union and taught there as a visiting professor. Menick works in the field of film and audio. He writes essays and short stories , sometimes he does prints and drawings.

Three works by John Menick were presented at dOCUMENTA (13) . Subliminal Projektion Company (2009) is a sound installation, A report on the City (2012) is a collection of essays and short stories that relate to each other and were written during a stay in Mexico. In Starring Sigmund Freud (2012) is a video.

Menick was represented at numerous exhibitions in Germany and abroad: dOCUMENTA (13) , Kassel; MoMA PS1 , New York; Palais de Tokyo , Paris; Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts , San Francisco; Midway Contemporary Art, Minneapolis; and Artists Space, New York. His texts have been published in frieze , Mousse and Art in America , among others .

Menick was awarded a prize from the Jerome Foundation and the New York Foundation .
