John Morrison (born October 26, 1948 ) is a retired British racing driver .

Racing career

John Morrison can look back on a racing career of over 20 years. It all started in Formula 3 , where he contested his first race in a national British championship in 1973. In the same year he also drove a few Formula Vee races , got into the Formula Super Vee European Championship late and still finished eleventh in the championship (overall winner Helmut Koinigg ahead of Freddy Kottulinsky and Kennerth Persson ). Morrison drove three more years of races in this championship and was fourth in 1974 (overall winner Kottulinsky ahead of Perrson and Keke Rosberg ) and tenth in 1976 (champion Mika Arpiainen ) in the final standings.

In 1977 Morrison switched to sports car racing . In 1979 he started at the 24-hour race in Le Mans and from 1980 onwards he became a regular participant in races in the World Sports Car Championship . By the end of his career after the end of the 2000 season, he drove 76 races. He achieved six overall and five class wins. He celebrated his greatest success at the end of his career. In 1997 he and John Greasley won the overall standings in the British GT championship in a Porsche 911 GT1 .
