John Neville (knight)

Sir John Neville of Liversedge († 1502 ) was an English knight .

Life

Sir John was the son of Sir Robert Neville and Ellen Molineux. He comes from the house of the Nevilles of Raby and was landlord of Liversedge in West Yorkshire .

He is mentioned twice as Sheriff of Yorkshire (1488 and 1495), was entrusted with duties in 1481 and 1484 as Justice of Array and in 1483 as Justice of Peace . Sir John also received the post of Constable of Pontefract Castle and fought against Scotland under Richard, Duke of Gloucester in 1482. In Scotland, John Neville also received the accolade . Sir John fought at the Battle of Bosworth during the Wars of the Roses in 1485 .

John Neville died on October 22, 1502.

Sir John was married to Maud, daughter of Sir Robert Ryther, landlord of Ryther in Yorkshire.
