John P. Hayes

John Patrick Hayes (born March 3, 1944 ) is a professor of electronics and computer science at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and a member of the Advanced Computer Architecture Laboratory, which he co-founded in 1985.

He graduated from the National University of Ireland in Dublin and received his BE in 1965. His MS and Ph.D. he graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1967 and 1970, respectively. Hayes' teaching and research interests are in computer architecture, CAD, computer inspection and testing, VLSI design, and fault tolerant systems. He is the owner of two patents and the author of over 150 technical publications and five books. His book Computer Architecture and Organization is a standard work on computer architecture .
