John St. Aubin Parker, 6th Earl of Morley, (born May 29, 1923 - September 20, 2015 ) was a British nobleman and politician.

Origin and life

John St. Aubin Parker was the eldest son of John Holford Parker. He was educated in Eton and then embarked on a military career. In 1942 he was appointed 2nd Lieutenant in the King's Royal Rifle Corps . From 1944 to 1945 he was used in north-western Europe. He then served in Palestine and Egypt from 1945 to 1948, and in the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers from 1947 . 1952/1953 he was used in Korea, then in the Middle East from 1953 to 1958. After attending Staff College in Camberley in 1957, he was commander of the 1st Battalion of the Royal Fusiliers.

After he retired from active military service as a lieutenant colonel in the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers in 1967, he took on tasks in the economy, primarily in banking. From 1974 to 1986 he was employed by Loyd's Bank Ltd., initially as Chairman for Devon and Cornwall, Ltd. since 1974, and from 1970 to 2005 he was President of the Chamber of Trade and Commerce for Plymouth Sound.

Political activity

John Parker was initially politically active at the local level. He was Justice of the Peace (Justice of Peace), then he was for the period from 1978 to 1982 Vice Lord Lieutenannt for Devon and Dorset. When his uncle Montagu Parker, 5th Earl of Morley , died in 1962 , he inherited his title and the hereditary seat in the House of Lords , which he lost again in 1999 as part of the reform of the House of Lords , as he was not among the remaining hereditary nobles was chosen. Parker died on September 20, 2015. He had been with Johanna Katherin Molesworth-St. Aubin, with whom he had a son and a daughter.

Honors

Since 1998, John Parker was a Knight of the Royal Victorian Order (KCVO). He was also President of the Council of the Order of St. John for Devon County.
