John Poyner

John Poyner is a British sound engineer who won an Academy Award for Best Sound Effects in 1968 .

Life

Poyner began his career in the film industry in 1955 as an assistant editor for the film Richard III. and after 1963 also worked as a sound engineer. To date, he has contributed to the production of 65 films.

At the Academy Awards in 1968 he was awarded the Oscar for best sound effects, specifically for The Dirty Dozen (1967) by Robert Aldrich with Lee Marvin , John Cassavetes and Ernest Borgnine in the lead roles .

After a break of around fifteen years from the film business, Poyner is currently working as a sound engineer and consultant on the production of the film Katherine of Alexandria , which is being directed by Michael Redwood with leading actors Nicole Madjarov , Peter O'Toole and Steven Berkoff and is due to be shown in theaters in 2012.
