John Richard Darley

John Richard Darley (born 1799 in Fairfield , County Monaghan , † January 20, 1884 ) was an Anglican bishop .

John Richard Darley was born in 1799 to Frederick Darley . He attended Trinity College in Dublin . He was ordained a priest in 1826 and was appointed director of Dundalk Grammar School , and in 1831 director of the Royal School Dungannon . In 1866 he became Archdeacon of Ardagh. When Thomas Carson , Bishop of Kilmore, Elphin, and Ardagh, died in July 1874 , Darley was elected to succeed him in September and received his episcopal ordination the following month.

Darley had been married to the eldest daughter of John Plunket, sister of the Archbishop of Dublin , since 1851 .
