John Thorold, 9th Baronet
Sir John Thorold, 9th Baronet ( December 18, 1734 - February 25, 1815 ) was a British nobleman and politician.
John Thorold was the eldest son of Sir John Thorold, 8th Baronet and his wife Elizabeth (nee Ayton). He attended Hertford College at the University of Oxford . On March 18, 1771, he married Jane Hayford. The marriage resulted in three sons and a daughter. When his father died on June 5, 1775, he inherited his title of nobility as 9th Baronet , of Marston in the County of Lincoln, which was awarded in 1642 in the Baronetage of England .
In 1779 he was elected to the House of Commons in a by-election in the Lincolnshire constituency. Thorold belonged to this until 1796.
The city of Thorold , Ontario is named after him.
