from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

John Tobias (born August 24, 1969 in Chicago ) is an American former video game designer. He used to work for Midway Games and is a co-founder of the Mortal-Kombat video game series.

Life

Before his Midway career, Tobias drew for the comic series The Real Ghostbusters . For Mortal Kombat, he designed some of the fighters as well as the plot. After the success of Mortal Kombat, John Tobias left the Midway team in 1999 to produce Mortal Kombat: Special Forces game . He then founded Studio Gigante and developed his own video game called Tao Feng: Fist of the Lotus and later WWE Wrestlemania 21 . After the demise of Studio Gigantes, John Tobias disappeared from the video game scene.

Despite being one of the creators, John Tobias was never mentioned as such in the Mortal Kombat series. Only the character of the former SubZero (known as "Noob Saibot") refers to John Tobias, since "Noob Saibot" written backwards gives the two names of its creators "Ed BOON" (Noob) and "John TOBIAS" (Saibot).
