John de Jong

John de Jong (born March 8, 1977 in The Hague ) is a Dutch football player . He plays in the central midfield.

He started his career in 1995 at ADO Den Haag . In 1997 he moved to FC Utrecht and in 2000 to PSV Eindhoven . At the beginning of the 2002/03 season he was loaned to SC Heerenveen .

Due to his performance in Heereveen, de Jong was brought back to PSV Eindhoven for the 2003/04 season, a regular place seemed certain and was often used. However, his vulnerability to injury has resulted in de Jong not having played an official game for PSV Eindhoven since March 2005. He's still on the club's squad and worked on restoring it, but on February 26, 2008, he announced his retirement.
