John de Jongh

John de Jongh (born November 13, 1957 ) is an American politician and former governor of the US Virgin Islands .

Life

After finishing school, Jongh studied economics at Antioch College in Ohio . Jongh became a member of the Democratic Party . Jongh was Governor of the US Virgin Islands from January 1, 2007, replacing Charles Wesley Turnbull . On November 2, 2010, he was re-elected governor in the gubernatorial election. His second term ended on January 5, 2015. His successor, who was elected in 2014, Kenneth Mapp, succeeded him.

Jongh is married to Cecile René Galiber.
