John van Buskirk

John van Buskirk (born April 13, 1972 in Louisville , Kentucky ) is an American football coach and former player.

Career as a player

The striker played in his hometown for the Louisville Thoroughbreds until 1995 and then moved to KFC Uerdingen 05 in the German Bundesliga . In his first season he came only to one use and the KFC was relegated. By 2000, the American had played 59 second division games , not a single one in his last season due to an injury. Then van Buskirk joined the Sportfreunde Siegen in the Regionalliga Süd . After he laced his shoes in the 2nd Bundesliga for FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt for one season in 2004/2005 , he moved to the Regionalliga-promoted Kickers Emden in summer 2005 . After one season and 30 games, the American ended his career.

Career as a coach

After he had ended his active career after the 2005/2006 season, van Buskirk had been assistant coach at Kickers Emden since summer 2006 and supported coach Marc Fascher . He replaced Michael Boris, who had to step back for professional reasons and only worked as a goalkeeping coach. At the end of the 2006/2007 regional league season, he resigned as an assistant coach and returned to the USA, where he took up a coaching position at a football school.
