Johnny Parry (born August 11, 1982 in Bedford ) is a British singer-songwriter , pianist , composer , arranger and music producer .

Life

Parry had a keen interest in art from a young age but did not devote himself to music until he was 15. He found inspiration in classical music (including Vaughan Williams ), but grunge music and bands like Radiohead also influenced the then young musician. Parry received a guitar from his father when he was 15; he taught himself to play and at the same time began to write his own songs.

Career

In 1998 Parry gave his first concert in a local pub in Bedford. In 2000 he founded the Lost Toys Records label . Parry began producing his first album Break Your Little Heart in Toronto in 2002 , which he released under his label. That year he founded the Johnny Parry Trio with musicians Ben Milway (drums) and Dave Lynch (bass) .

In 2009, the Bremen-based music agency SONGS & WHISPERS became aware of Parry. Parry toured with this agency for the first time in Germany. Since then we have continued to work together. The agency released some of his albums in later years.

With the recording of his fifth studio album More Love & Death , the Johnny Parry Chamber Orchestra was founded.

In 2012 Parry formed a 50-piece Bedford Arts Choir with whom he and the Chamber Orchestra performed his new piece An Anthology of All Things - a comprehensive collage of lyrics put together by many people.

In 2014 Parry released the album for An Anthology of All Things in the UK .

reception

“It is well known that the music industry throws the word" unique "around when promoting its products. Unfortunately, it's rarely really true. The concert of the British Johnny Parry with trio and chamber orchestra can rightly adorn itself with this attribute "

- prinz.de

“With God Loves Me, Johnny Parry starts the last act of his work, which is very clear, almost dominant, classically influenced or rather orchestral, but always with an open door for that Experimental is provided. "
