Joint Rescue Coordination Center Aarhus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Joint Rescue Coordination Center Aarhus (short: JRCC , in Danish also referred to as Søværnets operational command ) is the rescue coordination center for sea emergencies in Denmark , based in Aarhus . She receives all emergency calls from vessels in sea areas with a connection to the Danish coast and coordinates all SAR rescue operations in these sea areas.

The JRCC mostly operates indirectly via the Danish coastal radio stations, the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center Arhus or MRSC Kattegatt (for the west coast). The main coast station is Lyngby Radio . All Danish coastal radio stations have been operated by the Danish Ministry of Defense since January 1st, 2015 .

The JRCC Aarhus coordinates all rescue operations and takes on the tasks that are taken over in Germany by the MRCC Bremen and the Cuxhaven emergency command . In an emergency, the JRCC coordinates the Dansk Søredningsselskab fleet , the SAR component of the Danish Navy and all other rescue services. The JRCC is operated by the Danish Navy.

history

The JRCC Denmark was officially founded on January 4th 2006 and housed in the staff of the Danish Navy (Naval Staff), a bunker in Aarhus.

Until then, there had been the maritime MRCC ( Maritime Rescue Coordination Center ) and the RCC Karup air rescue center (RCC = Rescue Coordination Center ). When the cutter Melissa went down in 2003, it became clear that communication between the MRCC and RCC Karup was a major problem. As a result, it was decided to establish MRCC and RCC Karup in a single organization at the same location with joint personnel for the coordination of the Navy, Air Force and civilian forces.
