Dansk Søredningsselskab

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Dansk Søredningsselskab (DSRS) is an aid and sea rescue organization in Denmark .

Task and organization

The DSRS was founded in 2004 and, as it sees itself, provides technical assistance for pleasure craft and other watercraft on the coasts of Denmark in non-life-threatening emergency situations. The aim is to avoid emergencies at sea. It also supports the state rescue services in search and rescue operations . Like many aid and sea rescue organizations, she works with volunteers .

With the establishment of the DSRS, Denmark has for the first time a non-governmental sea rescue organization. Before that, this task was carried out exclusively by the Danish Navy (formerly Coastal Rescue Service), which operates the 21 state sea rescue stations. She is supported by ships of the naval home army and the rescue helicopters of the air force . All missions are coordinated by the JRCC Aarhus .

As a non-governmental organization, the DSRS has a board and democratic member structures. The organization is largely financed through membership fees and donations.

Stations

Today the DSRS has stations in Årø Havn , Bregnør , Helsingør , Juelsminde , Kerteminde , Copenhagen , Køge , Lynæs , Løgstør , Rudkøbing and Vordingborg , which are equipped with motor lifeboats . A further five stations are to be set up, mainly in Jutland, by 2020. The DSRS headquarters are in Helsingør.
