Jon Batiste (born November 11, 1986 in Kenner , Louisiana ) is an American musician. He is the musical director of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert .

Batiste was born into a family of musicians to which u. a. also included Harold Battiste and Lionel Batiste .
Batiste leads the music group Stay Human . He became known as the musical director of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and is also active on the show as a sidekick .
