Jonathan Philip Norfolk , MBE (born March 29, 1975 in Keighley ) is a British cycling coach and former track cyclist .

Athletic career

In 2001 and 2002 Jon Norfolk became British Keirin Champion . He also finished third in the 1000 meter time trial in 2001 and became national runner-up in this discipline in 2005.

From 2008, Norfolk drove as a pilot for the visually impaired cyclist Anthony Kappes in paracycling competitions. At the Paracycling Track World Cup in Manchester in May 2008, Kappes and Norfolk beat the duo Simon Jackson and Barney Storey in the sprint and 1000 meter time trial , setting a new world record of 1:02:06 minutes in the time trial.

Work as a trainer

Jon Norfolk then worked as an assistant coach for the British national sprint team. In May 2013 he became the head coach of the British paracycling team. In 2017 he moved to the Australian cycling association Cycling Australia as a coach . In autumn 2019 he returned to the British Cycling Association as a trainer .

Honors

In 2017 Norfolk was named a member of the Order of the British Empire .
