Jon Schmidt
Jon Schmidt (born July 9, 1966 in Salt Lake City ) is an American pianist and composer .
Life
Schmidt comes from a German immigrant family who made it possible for him to take professional music lessons at an early age . His talent quickly became apparent and so he began to compose his own pieces at the age of eleven . After more than a decade of classical training, he gave piano lessons himself from the age of 16. Nevertheless, Schmidt doubted the success of a music career. So he started studying English at college with the aim of getting an MBA . It was only through the positive response to his talent from his fellow human beings that he dared to present his skills to the public in a concert hall. Thereupon he dropped out of his studies, devoted himself entirely to his musical career in his early twenties and started a successful solo career .
Jon Schmidt and his wife Michelle have five children. His daughter Anna "Annie" Schmidt passed away on October 16, 2016 at the age of 21 while hiking in Portland, Oregon. According to current knowledge, she was traveling alone when she fell from a ledge. An accident is assumed.
Career
In 1991 Jon Schmidt released his debut album August End . Walk in the Woods (1993), A Day in the Sunset (1994) and Jon Schmidt Christmas (1997) followed under the label Aubergine Records . The album To the Summit , released in 2000, was released for the first time under the company's own music label JSP Productions. This was followed by many more pieces such as Heart of a Child , Winter Wind , Song of the Ocean , Waterfall , and Homecoming . Since 2011 he has been playing in the American music group The Piano Guys , with whom he can be seen regularly on the Internet video platform YouTube and with whom he publishes albums. His style of music is called " New Age Classical ".
