The Jona-Uznach Flames are a Swiss floorball club from Jona . Activities focus on the St.Gallen municipalities of Rapperswil-Jona and Uznach . The club has 18 teams, 13 of which are junior teams.

Club history

In the summer of 1997 the clubs TSV Jona and UHC Uznach decided to merge in order to get to the top at national level. On December 10, 1997, the Jona-Uznach Flames were officially founded.

In 2017, the association announced that the Jona-Uznach Flames wanted to build their own hall, which should be home to a large field and a small field. The project would cost around CHF 5.9 million.

Athletic career

Men's

The Jona-Uznach Flames were represented in the NLA until they were relegated in 2000 . In the 2007/08 season, the eastern Swiss even had to accept the move to the first division . Two years later, in the 2009/10 season, the Flames succeeded in returning to the NLB , the second highest league in Switzerland.

In the 2012/13 season, the NLB team managed to get into the playoffs with fourth place. In the playoff quarter-finals, the Flames caught up with a 2-0 deficit in the series and thus moved into the semi-finals. In this, however, the team was defeated by UHC Thun 3-0 in the series. In the Swiss Mobiliar Cup , the Jona-Uznach Flames failed in the round of 16 against Floorball Köniz.

In the 2013/2014 season, the club had to return to the first division. After just one season in the first division, the Flames managed to get promoted again in the 2014/2015 season and thus played again in the NLB in the 2015/2016 season. Another year later, the Jona club had to accept the move to the first division again. In the playouts of National League B, the Flames could not stand up in five games of Unihockey Langenthal Aarwangen and had to play in the promotion and relegation games. In these, the St. Gallen team lost to the Ticino team from Regazzi Verbano Unihockey in three games and will play in the third highest Swiss league for the 2016/17 season.

Ladies

The ladies of the Flames also form a successful team. You play in the first division on a small pitch. In March 2009, the women's team won the League Cup against Flamat-Sense with 8: 5 and in 2012, with third place, it was again enough to take a top place in the cup.
